Unwrap the Holidays With These Tips
Decorations bring the magic of Christmas to life! The holidays just wouldn’t be the same without the lights, stockings, and scent of pine! While holiday decor helps us experience the magic of the season, taking it all down doesn’t always bring joy!
I promise I’m not trying to rush through the holidays, but I do like to plan ahead which is why I am sharing our best tips for taking down your holiday decor or storing them when the time comes.
5 Tips for Taking Down + Storing Decorations⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take Pictures - If you just love the way you decorated your space this year, then snap a few pictures before you take everything down. This way when next Christmas rolls around, you know exactly where everything goes and how it should look.
Declutter - Are there any holiday decorations that didn’t make it out of storage this year? Rather than keep those items and let them take up valuable space, consider selling or donating them instead. This will not only save you space, but also save you time when you go to put up decorations next year.
Use Correct Storage - Oftentimes our holiday decorations get stored in the garage, basement, or attic so using the proper storage is key to keeping your items safe. I like using clear, weather tight bins. This way you can see everything inside, and you won’t need to worry about items getting damaged.
Categorize - There are many different ways to categorize your decorations… by room or by item. For example, all the tree ornaments can be packed together, all the holiday rugs get stored together, and so on. However, my preference is to categorize items by room. This makes it easier to find items the following year and get everything moved into the correct room without first having to go through bins and move everything to the correct place.
Label - Label your bins by room or by what’s inside. You can also print out any pictures you might have taken of your space and include those with your label as well. This way things are easy to access and you never have to sort through a bunch of items.
